PRP: The All-Natural Solution to Hair Loss

PRP: The All-Natural Solution to Hair Loss

Bald patches. Thinning crown. Receding hairline. Are you part of the 50 million men and 30 million women who’ve experienced hair loss? Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is a safe and natural way that uses your body’s natural healing properties to stimulate hair growth.

You probably took your full head of hair for granted when you were younger. Now as you are older and your hair is thinning and falling out, you probably would do anything to get it back.

Bald patches. Thinning crown. Receding hairline. Does this sound familiar? If you answered yes, you may be part of the 50 million men and 30 million women who’ve experienced hair loss.

You don’t just have to live with thinning hair and bald patches. At the Hair Doc, located in San Francisco, California, we provide PRP as a natural way to help stimulate hair growth.

The importance of platelets

You might have heard of platelet-rich plasma before and how it can heal orthopedic injuries. Celebrities like Tiger Woods and Kobe Bryant received PRP to quickly improve knee conditions and get them back to their sports. The PRP used for hair loss works similarly.

Your blood contains four parts: plasma, white blood cells, red blood cells, and platelets. PRP focuses on using just the plasma and platelets because of their incredible healing properties. Platelets are rich in growth factors that aid in tissue repair and cellular regeneration.

During the PRP, the platelets are separated and recombined with the plasma for a concentrated solution with up to four times the platelets as normal blood.

What to expect

PRP is a safe treatment especially in the hands of Peter Panagotacos, MD. When you come in for your treatment, Dr. Panagotacos answers any questions you may have and fully explains the treatment.

The treatment starts by extracting a small amount of blood from your arm. Next, Dr. Panagotacos spins it on a centrifuge to separate the blood components for the PRP sample. Next, he injects this concentrated healing serum into your scalp where you’re experiencing hair loss. Over the next few weeks, your body stimulates the growth of dormant hair follicles, strengthens existing hair, and helps prevent new balding.

All-natural treatment

Most hair growth products and treatments these days contain harsh chemicals and toxins. You don’t have to worry about adverse reactions with PRP because it uses your blood and its natural healing properties.

One of the best parts of PRP therapy is that it’s a safe treatment and has few reported side effects. There’s no downtime associated with the procedure and no one will even know you had it done — unless you tell them, of course!

How long until I see results?

When undergoing any procedure, you’re probably wondering when you’ll see results. Most patients need 3-4 treatments spaced about a month apart to get the results they want. Maintenance sessions are needed about twice a year to make sure you sustain your results.

It takes your body time to stimulate new hair growth, but most patients start seeing results in 4-6 weeks. We think you’ll agree the results are worth the wait — your receding hairline may become thicker. Your bald spots may disappear. You’ll probably look like a younger version of yourself.
